Session 6: Panel Discussion: Ensuring Qualified Coating Application Companies
Time: 10:00 AM – 12 NOON
Location: Salon 12
Session Chair: Harry Tsaprailis (Enbridge Employee Services Canada, Inc.)

  • Supply chain management practices include considerations of risk when qualifying vendors for the purchase of assets (e.g., valves, compressors, fitting, etc.) and services (e.g., coating, welding, non-destructive examination, etc.). For coating contractors, AMPP offers the Quality Procedures (QP) Programs that provides tremendous benefits to specifying asset and facility owners as well as industrial and architectural coatings contractors. The program provides clearly defined standards and access to more high-quality jobs for contractors and risk reduction and recourse for asset owners. Many asset owners use the QP Program for pre-qualification as all QP accredited contractors must meet the same rigorous quality standards and undergo the QP field audit process.
  • During this panel discussion, an overview of AMPP QP programs will be presented along with testimonials from qualified contractors and end-users, along with current requirements from other operators.
    • • “QP for Coating Contractors” – Dave Evans (AMPP)
    • • “Feedback from An Operator that Requires QP Programs” – TBD
    • • “Feedback from a QP Contractor” - Garry Claypool (Park Derochie, Inc.)
    • • “Pre-qualification Requirements By Other Operators” – Alex Findlay (Enbridge Pipelines)
  • The session will conclude with an open discussion with the attendees.
